The original distillery was then renamed Brora and from 1969 to 1973 produced heavily peated malt, gradually reducing its peat level from 1974 until its closure in 1983.\u0026nbsp; This unique limited edition (3000 bottles) was distilled in 1980 and aged for 30 years in ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry oak casks. It was then bottled at cask strength as part of Diageo’s special releases series in 2010 (9th release). On the nose, depth and richness with leathery notes of roasted meats softened by vanilla and grape sugar, followed by aromatic candle wax, ginger, mixed candied peel, and hints of coal smoke. On the palate, it starts strong with a subliminal warmth; oily, waxy, and peppery notes blend with a citrusy waxy malt, smoked barley, apple and pear, with dried fruit, crunchy nuts, gingerbread, salted caramel, and spiced cereals with herbal honey.
