The casks used for the production of Smokehead Sherry Bomb have two distinctive features: first, unlike all other Smokehead releases, this limited edition uses only casks that previously held Oloroso sherry. On the nose, meaty notes with barbecue sauce combined with the sherried soul of sultana grape, toasted hazelnut, cinnamon, and marzipan. The palate is enveloped by oily barbecue smoke and embers, balanced by a sweeter component of cinnamon and toasted dried fruit, a touch of licorice, and, on the finish, a clear maritime note, with salinity balancing the marriage of peat and sherry.
